ROME: The meeting follows a rocky fourth round in Muscat, where sharp disagreements over Tehran’s uranium enrichment program surfaced publicly.
Held in the Italian capital, the fifth round of US-Iran negotiations aims to explore peaceful resolutions and rebuild diplomatic trust between the two nations. Officials from both sides are expected to engage in constructive dialogue to create an environment conducive to reaching a broader understanding on outstanding issues, especially those surrounding Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
The discussions, which first commenced in April, represent the highest level of bilateral engagement since the US pulled out of the 2015 nuclear deal during former President Donald Trump’s tenure in 2018.
