DUBAI: If you believe a fine was issued in error, you can submit a formal objection and receive a decision within 10 working days.

Have you received a traffic violation for speeding, lane discipline, sudden swerving, or using your phone behind the wheel? If you think it was a mistake, you’re not stuck with the fine — motorists in Dubai can now contest such penalties online via the Dubai Public Prosecution’s portal.

To be eligible, the fine must be issued by the Dubai Police General Command and captured by traffic controllers. Applicants need to provide essential documentation, including Emirates ID or passport, fine details, and most importantly, evidence — dashcam footage is highly recommended and must clearly show the event in question.

Here’s how the process works:

Visit www.dxbpp.gov.ae and click ‘Request to Object a Traffic Fine’.

Enter personal and vehicle details, describe the violation in Arabic, and attach necessary documents.

The system will verify your application — including confirming that the fine hasn’t already been paid or disputed elsewhere.

A text message confirmation is sent before final submission.

The explanation of the dispute must be in Arabic — English submissions are automatically rejected. Legal translators or lawyers can assist in preparing the case, especially for non-Arabic speakers.

Once submitted, Dubai’s Traffic Prosecution will review your case and respond with either an acceptance or rejection. If approved, the case moves to Traffic Court for further proceedings.
