Chandigarh: The final, slated for June 3, will be played at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium.

The BCCI on Tuesday confirmed that the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Season 18 will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad — the world’s largest cricket stadium with a capacity of 132,000 — on June 3. The playoffs, which follow 70 electrifying league-stage matches, will begin in New Chandigarh.

The newly built PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh will host Qualifier 1 on May 29, featuring the top two ranked teams. This will be followed by the Eliminator on May 30, where the third- and fourth-placed teams will battle to stay alive in the competition.

Qualifier 2 will be held in Ahmedabad on June 1, where the loser of Qualifier 1 will face the winner of the Eliminator for a second chance at a spot in the final.

Originally scheduled to be held in Hyderabad and Kolkata, the playoff venues were shifted after a one-week suspension of the tournament, owing to adverse weather forecasts. The IPL Governing Council reviewed and selected the new venues based on weather and logistical feasibility.

Additionally, a league-stage match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad has been relocated to Lucknow due to poor weather in Bengaluru.

In a bid to manage potential weather-related delays, the BCCI has announced an additional one hour of playing time for all remaining league matches starting May 20.
