Oman’s Council of Ministers and Shura Council hold joint session to strengthen institutional cooperation

The Council of Ministers and the Shura Council convened a joint meeting to reinforce coordination and align efforts in implementing national policies and advancing the country’s development priorities

Muscat – The meeting, chaired by His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, was held in accordance with the Basic Law of the State and the Council of Oman Law.



It focused on enhancing cooperation between the executive and legislative branches in service of Oman’s supreme national interests.



His Highness highlighted the Shura Council’s vital role in supporting the comprehensive development process and underscored the importance of continued coordination between the two bodies. He reviewed several key areas where cooperation can be strengthened to better serve the nation and its citizens.



During the meeting, it was noted that the Cabinet remains committed to supporting the Shura Council as a strategic partner. In this context, ministers have continued to respond to the Council’s invitations by presenting ministerial statements outlining government initiatives and project implementations, aligned with national priorities. Moreover, the government has cooperated with requests to host senior officials for presentations and discussions on issues under review by Shura committees.



The session also emphasised the integration of Shura Council members’ proposals and feedback into economic and social development plans, reaffirming the Council’s role in shaping national policy.
Discussions included strategies to improve community awareness programs, which are seen as essential in conveying an accurate picture of national progress, as well as ways to activate the joint ministerial coordination committee between the two councils for more effective engagement.

His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council, along with members of the Council’s Bureau, welcomed the outcomes of the meeting and praised the government’s continued efforts to foster institutional dialogue. They reiterated their commitment to greater collaboration in the coming phase to preserve and build upon Oman’s development achievements.
