Muscat: Preliminary figures released by NCSI show a positive national trend, with Oman’s net electricity production, including purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company, increasing by 5.1% to 5,522.8 GWh.
Regional data, however, presents a mixed picture. While Muscat Governorate led the way with a staggering 3,160.9% jump in electricity production—reaching 35.5 GWh—Dhofar Governorate also posted healthy growth of 8.5%, producing 786.6 GWh.
In contrast, the combined output of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, and Al Dhahirah fell by 5.8%, totaling 3,137.9 GWh. The Sharqiyah governorates also saw a decline of 3.1%, producing 1,256 GWh, while Al Wusta experienced the steepest drop at 17.2%, generating only 14.4 GWh. Musandam Governorate registered a modest gain of 3.2%, producing 49.9 GWh.

Meanwhile, water production across the Sultanate saw a slight dip. By the end of February 2025, total water output stood at approximately 79.16 million cubic meters, down from 81.22 million cubic meters during the same period in 2024.
