Muscat: The Diplomatic Club in Muscat became the center of commemoration as it hosted a grand ceremonial celebration marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Held under the patronage of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of Moscow, the event honored the legacy of Victory Day while fostering cultural and diplomatic ties.

Organized by Russian House Oman, with the support of the Board of Russian Compatriots in Oman, the evening featured a memorial ceremony, the “Immortal Regiment” campaign, and a festive concert showcasing songs from the war years. Guests were treated to a fiery Cossack show performed by the famous ensemble “Lyubo-Milo” from Russia, a buffet featuring Russian and Soviet cuisine, and photo zones styled after wartime days, allowing attendees to capture memorable moments.

The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of dignitaries, including HE Russian Ambassador Oleg Levin, ambassadors and representatives from the embassies of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan, Abdulmuslim Mukhudinovich Abdulmuslimov the Prime Minister of the Republic of Dagestan, HE Secretary General of the National Museum Jamal Al Moosawi, HE Al Zubair Mohammad Al Zubair, and Dr. Hamed Hashim Al-Dhahab.

HE Oleg Levin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Oman, emphasized the profound significance of Victory Day:
“The Great Victory of 1945 stands as a testament to the courage, unity, and sacrifice of the Soviet people. Preserving the truth about the war is essential to ensure that history is neither erased nor distorted. It was the Soviet nation who bore the weight of the conflict, liberating Europe from Nazi oppression—a shared victory that should unite humanity, not divide it. Victory Day serves as a powerful link between generations, connecting those who fought with those born afterward, ensuring that the legacy of resilience and remembrance endures.”

The gala evening brought together compatriots, diplomats, and business leaders, including high-ranking Omani officials, ambassadors from friendly nations, and representatives of the business community. The event also featured a traditional Majlis, fostering informal business networking and strengthening ties between Russian and Omani entrepreneurs.

“Victory Day is not only a tribute to the past, but also an important lesson for the future. The event in Muscat symbolizes our commitment to the ideals of peace and justice,” said Igor Egorov, head of the Board of Russian Compatriots in Oman.

A special focus was placed on the younger generation, with organizers emphasizing the importance of instilling respect for the Great Victory and the sacrifices of older generations. Anna Popova, director of Russian House Oman, highlighted the significance of educating children about Victory Day:
“By fostering an awareness of the significance of Victory Day in children, we instill in them the values of fortitude, unity, and loyalty to the ideals of peace—while also recognizing that these principles are deeply embedded in both Omani and Russian cultures and way of life.”

To ensure young guests felt the festive atmosphere, interactive games were organized, making the event a family-friendly celebration.

The 80th anniversary of Victory Day in Muscat served as a vital platform for cultural and humanitarian dialogue between Russia and Oman, reinforcing the shared values of peace, unity, and historical remembrance.

The event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors and partners, including Wujha Real Estate, Techno, Gates of Arabia, Levare, Adam & Eve Restaurant, Ocean Pearl World, Intercity Hotel Muscat, Al Marsa, Mazoon Dairy, Mediapulse, Salam Air, Mandarin and Jumeirah Muscat Bay Hotel.
