Muscat – The signing ceremony was held in Muscat and marks a major step toward preserving Oman’s natural heritage while enhancing its eco-tourism infrastructure.
The agreements span seven nature reserves across the country, including the Ras Al Shajar, Turtle, Oryx, and Khor Al Mughsail reserves, as well as projects in Jabal Samhan, Wilayat of Mirbat, and the Western Mountain Starlight Reserve. These projects include the development, management, and operation of eco-tourism initiatives such as environmental resorts, star parks, eco-lodges, visitor centers, adventure tourism trails, and safari experiences.
His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, emphasised in his opening remarks that the investments are designed to protect and preserve Oman’s natural heritage for future generations, while also creating new tourism destinations and contributing to the diversification of the national economy.
The investments aim to protect and preserve the natural heritage in these reserves, ensuring its sustainability for future generations, and creating tourism and economic activities that contribute to diversifying sources of income, creating new tourist destinations, improving infrastructure facilities, and diversifying the national tourism product.
“These non-traditional eco-tourism projects not only enrich the national tourism product but also support sustainable development by integrating environmental awareness, education, and community engagement,” stated His Excellency.
He highlighted that the projects aim to enhance infrastructure facilities, increase environmental awareness, and foster a sense of loyalty and belonging to the natural environment among visitors and local communities alike.
