Muscat: The milestone came during the Oman Women vs Bahrain Women T20I series, where Meera stepped onto the field not just as an official, but as a trailblazer. Celebrated by the Oman Cricket, her achievement has been hailed as a landmark moment, highlighting the growing role of women in cricket across the region—not just as players, but also as umpires and coaches.
“A huge congratulations to Meera Bhanushali on becoming the first female umpire from Oman to officiate in an ICC T20I match,” said Oman Cricket in an official statement. “Her achievement is a powerful reminder that women can lead, inspire, and make history in cricket.”
The match itself saw Oman Women deliver a strong performance, securing victory over Bahrain Women by five wickets with 38 balls to spare. This game also marked Oman Women’s return to the pitch since their last outing during the ACC Premier League Cup in February 2024.
