Muscat – Speaking at a press conference held on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, His Excellency Dr. Al Ghassani revealed that the 2025 season of Dhofar Khareef will officially commence on June 21 and continue until September 20, in line with the astronomical start of the autumn season each year.
Also addressing the press gathering was His Excellency Azzan Qassim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, who indicated that a number of tourism and hotel facilities will open this year. Currently, Dhofar Governorate has 83 hotel facilities with 6,537 licensed rooms of various categories that are ready to receive visitors.
He further pointed out that the Ministry has begun implementing a number of promotional programs and activities for the Dhofar khareef season, starting with participation in the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, advertising campaigns in various Arab media outlets and social media platforms, and direct marketing campaigns in the Gulf and regional markets.
Highlighting the Governorate’s preparations for the upcoming khareef season, His Excellency Dr. Al Ghassani stated that the Atin Square site would be the center for global events, and will include an integrated shopping area, an open theater, and a modern gaming area; it will also feature lighting and laser shows with a new look.
He explained that the Awqad Park would be dedicated to family entertainment through a variety of activities, while Salalah Public Park would be designated for a host of sporting activities throughout the season. Al Marooj Theatre would be dedicated to various cultural events with local and international participation.
“Dhofar Municipality has implemented development projects in cooperation with government and private entities, including the development of natural views and some tourist sites, paving internal roads, and beautifying cities to enhance the visitor experience and improve the tourism infrastructure,” stated the Governorate’s Chairman.
He further confirmed that the municipality would expand the scope of activities to include some of the Governorate’s coastal wilayats witnessing khareef season, with a variety of cultural, sporting, and commercial activities.
