DUBAI: As part of its ambitious AI Strategy unveiled during the inaugural Dubai AI Week, the RTA announced the deployment of a real-time, AI-powered traffic signal control system across the city. The new technology, which taps into live and historical traffic data, will predict traffic patterns, simulate scenarios, and dynamically adjust signal timings to optimise flow at intersections.

The move is part of a broader strategy featuring more than 80 projects and initiatives to be implemented over the next five years, all designed around six pillars, including enhancing public happiness and intelligent traffic management.

“By analysing live and historical data, the AI system will predict traffic flow, simulate real-time scenarios, dynamically adjust signal timing, and reduce waiting times,” the RTA stated. The measures are expected not only to cut waiting times but also to boost traffic safety and ensure a faster route for public transport and priority vehicles.
