MUSCAT : With 40 trainees enrolled in two main specialisations – Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and Comprehensive Web Development – the Makeen Bootcamp training programme aims to equip young national talents with modern technical skills through an intensive 16-week academic training, followed by an 8-week practical training in both public and private sector institutions.
This approach is designed to enhance trainees’ opportunities to gain real-world experience that qualifies them to join the labour market.
The first day of the bootcamp featured introductory activities among the trainees to foster team spirit and encourage collaborative work. Trainees also received an overview of the overall programme and the projects they will be working on during the camp. They were also introduced to the Academy’s team and the learning environment.
The current cohort of trainees was selected from over 1,040 job seekers who underwent a series of evaluations and personal interviews as part of a meticulous selection process designed to identify the most qualified candidates to benefit from the program.
The second edition of the Makeen Bootcamps aims to train 200 participants over three groups throughout 2025. Participants will receive a monthly financial grant of RO 200, in addition to laptops, contributing to the provision of a comprehensive training environment that facilitates learning and practical application.
As part of the program’s geographic expansion plan, the second intake of the bootcamp will be launched in the Wilayat of Sohar on April 20, focusing on System Engineering and Network Security Engineering.
Subsequent cohorts will be held in the Wilayats of Sur and Salalah, in line with the Ministry’s efforts to empower Omani youth across the Sultanate’s governorates and to promote innovation and the digital economy in alignment with the national digital transformation agenda.
