MUSCAT : Researchers across Oman are invited to submit their work from Sunday, April 13, 2025, until Sunday, June 15, 2025.

The award seeks to encourage researchers to conduct high-standard scholarly research studies that deal with national priorities and publish them in specialised journals. The award lends support to scholars, researchers and innovators and motivate them to conduct sound research that provides practical solutions to national and global challenges.

The National Award for Research falls in two categories: (1) The Best Published Research that is submitted by holders of the doctorate (PhD) in the medical field or its equivalent (senior consultants, specialists and other seniors); and (2) the Best Published Research submitted by junior researchers (who do not hold a PhD).

Research fields include education and human resources, culture, social and basic sciences, information and communication technologies, health and social services, energy and industry, and environmental and biological resources.

General Conditions:

1. The applicant must be the author, whose name is mentioned first in the published article
2. The research article must be of relevance to the Sultanate of Oman and falls under one of the six research fields of the award.
3. The published research must have not won any other awards nationally or internationally.
4. The research must have been published after the 15th of March 2022, in a refereed journal, indexed in either Scopus or Web of Science or in one of the Arabic periodicals listed on the award’s website page.
5. The award is limited only to original research studies and articles. Publications such as review papers, conference proceedings, historical articles, book chapters or medical case reports are not accepted.
6. Each researcher has the right to submit only one application to participate in the award in its various categories and fields. In case there is more than one application, all applications submitted by the participant will be eliminated.
7. The applicant must provide written consent from each team member to prove his or her approval to participate in the competition
8. Only complete applications for the award, submitted electronically on the award’s website, and supplemented with all the required documents as attachments, will be considered for evaluation.
9. The award winners must provide any additional information requested by the ministry and shall be willing to attend and present their research at the Annual Research Forum.
10. The evaluation committee’s decisions are final and no objection in this regard will be entertained.
