Muscat – The fort, known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance, saw an influx of people eager to explore its majestic architecture and learn more about Oman’s history during the festive season.
According to Sultan bin Ali Al Muqbali, Director of Sohar Fort Museum, visitors got an opportunity to learn about Sohar Fort, its contents, and the story of its construction, which dates back to the end of the thirteenth century.

It is considered one of the most important forts in the North Al Batinah Governorate due to its distinguished location and the significant role it played throughout the past centuries. He added that the fort currently houses a museum that covers many of the archaeological and historical aspects of Sohar as well as other sites in the country.

It also highlights the important role played by the copper trade in this ancient city and its relationship with Canton in China. It also displays numerous artifacts found during archaeological excavations inside the fort and at various locations in Oman.

It’s worth noting that the governorates of North Al Batinah witnessed a variety of events during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, which were organised by the North Al Batinah Municipality, with participation and attendance from various segments of society. Activities included competitions for children and adults, horse riding, theatrical performances, cartoon characters, and talent shows.
