Oman sees first 40°C reading of the year, signalling end of cool winter streak

Temperatures across Oman have surged into the 40s for the first time since winter began, with Hamra Ad Duru recording a scorching 40.1°C.

Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that Hamra Ad Duru, registered the highest temperature of 40.1°C on Thursday, April 3, 2025. This reading represents a turning point in the country’s weather, as Oman transitions from milder winter conditions into its hotter summer season.

Other regions also saw elevated temperatures. Buraimi and Fahud came close to the 40°C mark at 39.6°C, followed by Ibri at 39.0°C. In the high-30s range were Al Awabi and Al Mudhaibi at 38.4°C, while Mahdha, Jaalan Bani Bu Hasan, Bawshar, Um Zamaim, and Suwaiq recorded slightly lower but still notably warm temperatures.
