Muscat: The dam, built at a cost of approximately RO 60,000, was executed under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and supported by local community efforts.

Salem bin Hamid Al Badi, the project supervisor, revealed that the dam measures 53 meters in length, 11 meters in height, and holds a storage capacity of 33,000 gallons. The structure, constructed over 235 days, is fed by a 12-kilometre-long valley and was built using reinforced concrete, stones, filters, and other durable materials, following the highest standards for dam construction in Oman.

Al Badi noted that the dam will provide vital water storage to benefit nearby villages, including Bayhaa, Al-Waqba, and other surrounding communities. In addition to its practical function, the dam is expected to enhance the tourist appeal of the region. Its location—already a known natural attraction—will likely draw adventure seekers, hikers, and nature lovers once water begins to fill the reservoir.

A specialized team from the Ministry’s Dams Department oversaw all phases of the project, ensuring it met all technical and environmental standards.
