MUSCAT : The project, spread over 145,000 square meters, will be executed in two phases, with the first focusing on infrastructure works, including site levelling, road construction, and the installation of essential service networks such as electricity, water, sewage, and communications. This phase also includes building reception and administration facilities, parking areas, and green spaces.
His Excellency Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, told the Oman News Agency that the project is expected to generate RO 1.26 million in annual investment returns and provide approximately 309 new jobs across sectors including construction, tourism, and management.
The second phase, scheduled to begin later this year, will introduce a range of tourism and recreational attractions—a public square, open-air theater, cultural park, adventure areas for children, a 200-meter zip line, a 250-meter slide track, a glass walkway, a health trail, and a geological exhibition showcasing Oman’s natural diversity.

Additional features include remote work offices, kiosks selling local products, an adventure center, and various public facilities. Investment opportunities will also open after mid-April, inviting the private sector to participate in building a luxury resort, coffee and fruit farm, suspended glass bridge, and more.
The project recently won first place in the 2024 Best Development Project Proposal competition among governorates, aligning with Oman Vision 2040 and the royal directives to elevate regional development.
His Excellency emphasized that the Jebel Shams project is not only a tourism driver but also a nation-building initiative, aimed at enhancing local content, empowering entrepreneurs through 32 investment opportunities, and preserving the cultural and environmental identity of the area.
