These figures emphasize the urgent need for enhanced enforcement measures to curb reckless speeding, which remains a leading contributor to accidents.
The report also identified key accident causes in Dubai, with sudden lane changes leading to 676 crashes, followed by failure to maintain a safe distance, which resulted in 518 accidents. Authorities continue to stress the importance of defensive driving to reduce avoidable collisions.
Apart from speeding, a rising trend of non-compliance with traffic laws has raised concerns:
154,948 cases of improper parking
129,263 violations for ignoring traffic signs
34,542 red-light violations
87,321 cases of distracted driving due to mobile phone use
64,233 drivers caught without seat belts
Additionally, 95 drivers were found operating vehicles in foggy conditions despite warnings, significantly increasing road risks.
In response to the growing safety concerns, Dubai authorities have launched awareness campaigns and enforcement measures to reduce accidents and improve compliance. The Dubai Police General Command is working on educating drivers about road safety best practices and the severe consequences of violations.
