LOS ANGELES : Following its triumph at the Cannes Film Festival last May, where it took home the prestigious Palme d’Or, ‘Anora’ continued to capture the hearts of critics and audiences alike, securing a total of five Oscars.
The film, which competed against a strong lineup of contenders including The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Don: Part Two, Emilia Perez, I’m Still Her, Nickel Boys, The Subsistence, and Wicked, ultimately claimed the top honour of the night.
In addition to Best Picture, Anora also earned recognition for its outstanding performances. Mickey Madison, 25, took home the Oscar for Best Actress for her moving portrayal in the film, while director Sean Baker won the award for Best Director, marking another milestone in his career.
Adrien Brody won his second Oscar for Best Actor for his role in The Brutalist, where he portrayed a Jewish immigrant and architect striving to achieve the American dream. Zoe Saldana was awarded Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Emilia Pérez, a Spanish-language musical film produced by Netflix. Kieran Culkin won Best Supporting Actor for his role in A Real Bean, where he played one of two cousins who travel to Poland to explore their family roots.
The 2025 Academy Awards highlighted the diversity and range of talent in the film industry, with Anora leading the night’s celebrations as a standout in both storytelling and performances.
