Muscat – The news of Abdul Salam’s death at the age of 36 sent shockwaves through the nation. He was last seen on the pitch just a week ago during the Super Cup match, where he helped guide a victorious Dhofar team. A central defender renowned for his strength and leadership, he’d led Dhofar Club to victory in the Super Cup.

His illustrious career began in 2010 with Dhofar, and he subsequently graced the pitches of top-tier clubs in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, including a successful stint with Kuwait Club where he clinched the league title.

Abdul Salam’s trophies feature an impressive array of accolades, including the His Majesty’s Cup with Al Arouba Club and three Oman Super Cup titles. On the international stage, he proudly donned the Oman national team jersey, representing his country in the Gulf Cup, Asian Cup qualifiers, and FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

He was also a vital player for Kuwait Club during their successful campaign to win the Kuwait Premier League title. Over the course of his career, he played 70 international matches for Oman and over 100 club appearances across the region.

In the wake of the news of his untimely death, Social media platforms were flooded with heartfelt tributes from fans, fellow players, clubs, and the Oman Football Association (OFA).

“The Oman Football Association extends its sincere condolences and sincere sympathy to the family of our former national football team player, Abdul Salam Amer Al Mukhaini, may God forgive him, who passed away today.
