MUSCAT : The surge in footfall is attributed to the introduction of two new services: a suspended rope course designed for thrill-seekers and electric carts to facilitate movement within the cave.

Shams bin Abdullah Al-Hattali, a tour guide at the site, shared insights into the cave’s unique features and recent enhancements. Al-Hattali explained that the cave spans about 5 kilometers, though visitors currently explore a prepared 500-meter path starting from the main entrance.

The cave’s charm lies in its remarkable limestone formations, tranquil underground lakes over 20 meters deep, and a thriving ecosystem that includes long-tailed bats, rare spiders, and the intriguing blind fish. Visitors can also explore the geological museum located above the reception area, which showcases a collection of rocks and formations unique to the region.

Sulaiman bin Salem Al Subhi, the Geological Exhibition Manager at Al Hoota Cave, said: “The exhibition provides visitors with a comprehensive idea of the unique geological nature of the region and how Al Hoota Cave was formed over different geological eras. Visitors to the exhibition also learn about the genetic development of blind fish and rare spiders, in addition to how water affects the formation of stalagmites, stalactites, and other unique natural forms.”

Combining adventure, natural beauty, and geological history, Al Hoota Cave remains a must-visit destination for those seeking a one-of-a-kind experience. Open daily in both morning and evening hours, the site continues to cement its reputation as a tourist treasure in Oman.
