KUWAIT: The grand opening ceremony was attended by high-profile dignitaries, including HH Sayyid Theyazin, Oman’s Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In an official statement on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi shared his appreciation for the event, stating:

“Attended the opening ceremony of the Arabian Gulf Cup. This grand sporting event celebrates the spirit of football in the region. I thank His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait, for inviting me to witness this event.”

This was the first trip by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years, with huge potential for bilateral cooperation between India and Kuwait to occur in the near future
