MUSCAT : Starting in Muscat, Dhofar, and North Al Batinah, the initiative aims to ensure rapid response, reliability, and enhanced consumer trust in fuel services.
Imad bin Khamis Al-Shikaili, Director General of Standards and Metrology, emphasized the significance of the mobile laboratory service, calling it the first of its kind in Oman and only the second in the GCC region.
He added that the ministry will enhance mobile laboratories by obligating station owners to comply with local and international standard regulations and specifications and avoid penalties and fines related to non-compliance in the quantities and type of fuel provided. These reasons made mobile laboratories the ideal choice for the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and providing the highest levels of quality and compliance in its operations.

Equipped with advanced devices, the mobile labs will check fuel types, including 91, 95, and 98 octanes, and ensure compliance with local and international standards. Station owners will be required to meet strict regulations to avoid penalties, further bolstering consumer satisfaction and trust.
The rollout will begin with three units covering key governorates, with plans to expand nationwide. The ministry will also deploy the labs during high-traffic seasons, such as Salalah’s autumn season, and respond to complaints from areas not initially covered.
To maintain affordability, the periodic inspection service will charge minimal annual fees, making it accessible to station owners. The initiative aligns with global trends in improving service quality, promising swift, safe, and accurate solutions.
