MUSCAT: Oman will face Iraq in the crucial sixth round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher at 8pm on Tuesday.
On matchday five of the third round, Iraq claimed a 0-0 draw with Jordan, giving them eight points at this stage, two more than Oman for third in the group, with the latter defeating Palestine 1-0 on last week. They left it late, but in the end, Oman collected three valuable points in their quest to make it to the World Cup for the first time.
Since veteran Rashid Jaber took charge, Oman have got their qualification campaign back on track. “We have a group of distinguished players with experience. We will try to impose our style,” Jaber said on Monday.
