NEW DELHI : An official statement released by Saira’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, to India Today outlined the emotional toll that led to the separation. “After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr. AR Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship,” the statement read.
The statement further revealed that despite their enduring love, the couple found the challenges in their relationship too great to overcome. “Mrs. Saira emphasised that she has taken this decision out of pain and agony. She requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as she navigates this difficult chapter in her life,” it concluded.
The couple, who tied the knot in 1995, are parents to three children: Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen.
