DUQM : Marafiq, a company owned by OQ (Oman’s leading energy company) and Gulf Energy Development (GED), a leading power and water utilities company based in Thailand, has strengthened its support for the local community by funding the opening of preparatory classes at schools in Al Wusta Governorate for the third consecutive year.

According to the agreement between Marafiq and the Directorate-General of Education in Al Wusta Governorate, Marafiq has renewed its support to open preparatory classes at Dhahr School for Basic Education in Duqm and Al Lakbi School for Basic Education in Al Jazir for the 2024/2025 academic year, after previously funding the opening of preparatory classes at both schools in the past two academic years.
Eng. Abdullah Al Hashimi, Managing Director of Marafiq, confirmed the company’s commitment to supporting social initiatives in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) in particular and Al Wusta Governorate in general. He emphasised that the company’s support for the opening of preparatory classes reflects its focus on school children and enhancing the local community’s benefit from Marafiq’s social responsibility programs.

He added, “Social investment is an integral part of Marafiq’s corporate social responsibility, as the company places special emphasis on supporting the education sector in SEZAD and Al Wusta Governorate in general. Through its continuous funding of preparatory classes at schools in Al Wusta Governorate, the company aims to enhance human development and build the capabilities of young generations to make the most of local potential.”
The opening of preparatory classes is part of the efforts made by the Directorate-General of Education in Al Wusta Governorate to provide comprehensive care for children to overcome the challenges they face when transitioning to the first grade of basic education. It also serves as an encouragement and motivation for both children and their parents to further pursue academic achievement.
Majid Al-Sinawi, Director General of the Directorate-General of Education in Al-Wusta Governorate, expressed his appreciation to Marafiq for its role in supporting the efforts of the Directorate-General of Education in developing the abilities and skills of students.
He said that the support of companies for the Directorate’s plans reflects the level of partnership between the public and private sectors and contributes to the implementation of various plans and programs aimed at improving the academic performance of students in the governorate’s schools.
