Treasury bills are short-term, government-backed securities issued by the Ministry of Finance to help manage the government’s finances. These bills offer a secured investment option for licensed commercial banks and provide a tool for managing liquidity in the local financial market. Treasury bills are known for their rapid liquidity, as they can be discounted with the Central Bank of Oman or used in repurchase operations (repos) in the interbank market.

Additionally, treasury bills help establish short-term interest rate indicators for the financial market and provide the government with a flexible means of financing some of its expenses, allowing for smooth financial operations.
