MUSCAT : The high-profile event, held at the Sheraton Oman Hotel, runs until November 9, with a focus on advancing hockey across all levels.
Today’s session included the Executive Council meeting, where top FIH leaders discussed key proposals aimed at boosting the growth of hockey on a global scale. Topics ranged from development programs to international collaboration efforts, signaling a progressive agenda for the future of the sport.
Tomorrow, the Congress will feature the FIH Hockey Star Awards ceremony, celebrating the achievements of standout players from around the world. In the women’s Best Player category, Ju Pingfeng (China), Yibi Jansen (Netherlands), Nike Lorenz (Germany), Stephanie Vanden Borre (Belgium), and Shan de Warde (Netherlands) will be recognized. In the men’s category, accolades will go to Thierry Brinkman (India), Joep de Mol (India), Hans Muller (Germany), Harmanpreet Singh (India), and Zach Wallace (England).

The Best Goalkeeper award will honor Cristina Cosentino (Argentina), Aisling D’Hooghe (Belgium), Natalie Kobalski (Germany), Anne Veenendaal (Netherlands), and Yi Jiao (China) in the women’s category, while Pirmin Black (Netherlands), Luis Calzado (Spain), Jean-Paul Danneberg (Germany), Thomas Santiago (Argentina), and PR Sreejesh (India) will be acknowledged in the men’s category.
The Rising Star Award will also be presented, recognizing emerging talent across the globe. In the women’s division, Claire Colwell (Australia), Zoe Diaz (Argentina), Tan Jinzhuang (China), Emily White (Belgium), and Linnea Weidmann (Germany) have been named, while in the men’s category, awards will go to Bautista Capurro (Argentina), Bruno Font (Spain), Sufyan Khan (Pakistan), Michel Strothoff (Germany), and Arno van Dissel (Belgium).
The Congress will continue with discussions on the FIH’s strategic plans, culminating in elections for a new board of directors, who will serve a four-year term. Additionally, Arab, continental, and international meetings will foster further cooperation within the General Assembly.
