MUSCAT : The Oman Hockey Association (OHA) unveiled an exciting lineup of tournaments today, announcing the Oman International Women’s Hockey Championship, the Gulf Men’s Hockey Championship, and the Schools Hockey Championship, all set to take place from November 7 to 9 at the Oman Hockey Stadium in Al Amerat. These prestigious events coincide with Oman hosting the International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) General Assembly Congress, bringing together over 400 delegates from more than 140 countries.
Oman International Women’s Hockey Championship will have 8 teams participating from different countries. Gulf Cup Hockey Fiesta – 8th edition, organized by UTSC in association with Hockey Oman and an approved event of the Asian Hockey Federation. 8 teams participating from all different countries. 2 teams from India and one from UAE, one team from Egypt and one from Oman and all teams are representing with international players. Inter School Hockey tournaments, organized by Hockey Oman in association with UTSC, will have Indian and Omani schools participating in this prestigious tournament.
During a press conference, Dr. Marwan Juma Al Juma, Chairman of Hockey Oman, emphasized the significance of these tournaments in promoting hockey and nurturing talent within the Sultanate.

“These championships come as part of our continuous efforts to promote hockey, develop the skills of male and female players, and expand the game’s base in the Sultanate of Oman, in line with national sports development plans, and enhance the Sultanate of Oman’s presence on the regional and international sports scene,” he stated.
The OHA has laid out a comprehensive plan to ensure the smooth operation of the competitions. This includes selecting and developing the stadiums to meet International Hockey Federation standards, securing qualified training and administrative staff, and organizing educational workshops for participants and organizers. The OHA is also implementing electronic registration systems to promote transparency and fairness during the matches, along with ensuring the availability of locally accredited referees.
Hockey Oman has also partnered with the UNITED THALASSERY SPORTS CLUB (UTSC) to conducted various successful events as done earlier. Matches organized were well attended by an increasing number of spectators from the local community and overall is a family affair. A minimum crowd of 10,000 plus is expected to be present during this 3 days grand event.
Hockey Oman has made notable strides in the development of hockey in Oman. The Oman Hockey Association (OHA) has been instrumental in promoting the sport at grassroots and professional levels. Hockey Oman has conducted various international tournaments in Oman, including the 5A-side World Cup, the Asian Hockey Championship, and the upcoming Asian Junior Championship, which is scheduled for November 2024.
