Real estate trading in Oman surges to over RO 1.9 billion

The total value of real estate trading in Oman recorded a 5.4 percent increase, reaching RO 1,933.2 billion by the end of August 2024, compared to RO 1,834.8 billion during the same period last year.

Muscat – According to statistics from the National Centre for Statistics and Information, the fees collected from all legal transactions totalled approximately RO 43.7 million, reflecting a slight increase of 0.2 percent compared to August 2023. The traded value of sale contracts was reported at RO 716.1 million, involving 44,398 contracts – an increase of 0.9 percent in the number of contracts.

The data further reveals a significant growth in mortgage contracts, which rose by 7.9 percent to reach RO 1.208 billion across 13,565 contracts. Additionally, the number of exchange contracts stood at 927, valued at RO 9.2 million.

Despite the overall positive trend in real estate trading, the number of properties issued by the end of August 2024 was approximately 149,935, showing a decrease of 4.9 percent. However, the issuance of properties to citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries increased by 12.3 percent, totalling 985 properties.
