Muscat: Organized by the National Centre for Statistics and Information in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the League of Arab States, this three-day event aims to enhance cooperation among Arab countries in tourism statistics and will be officially opened by His Excellency Salem bin Mohammed Al Mahroqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.
Mona bint Saeed Al Abri, Director of the Communication and Media Department at the Center and Head of the Organizing Committee of the Forum, noted that Oman’s hosting of this forum coincides with the selection of the Wilayat of Sur as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2024. “This forum is an essential step toward developing statistical indicators that measure and analyze tourism, which are crucial for national development,” she stated in an interview with the Oman News Agency.
The forum will feature presentations across four key axes. The first will explore the importance of tourism statistics in supporting national development strategies, while the second will delve into development and innovation in tourism statistics. The third axis will review international experiences with non-traditional tourism data sources, and the fourth will discuss Arab experiences in producing tourism statistics.
