MUSCAT : The walkathon, scheduled to be held on October 29 at the Oman Automobile Association, is one of the most prominent community events organized by the association. It aims to raise awareness about cancer and support patients and their families, and includes a group of awareness events and sports activities.

Dr. Wahid bin Ali Al Kharousi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Cancer Association, explained the importance of the annual walkathon in supporting cancer patients, noting that the event symbolises strengthening of social ties and raising awareness to the importance of early detection and appropriate treatment.
Pointing out that the distance of the walk this year is 1.8 kilometres, he added that thousands of people of different ages gather in these walks to support research and develop treatments through various activities.
Sulaiman bin Abdullah Al Rawahi, Director General of the Oman Automobile Association, stressed the association’s social role and the availability of requisite facilities to host local and international events that attract thousands. He indicated that the walkathon is an opportunity for patients and their families to connect with the community and share their success stories, while promoting a positive spirit and optimism among participants.
The press conference was attended by members of the Board of Directors of the Oman Cancer Association, the Director General of the Oman Automobile Association, and a number of media professionals, members and interested parties.
