Oman’s Sports Sciences Forum scores big on athlete care

The Second Sports Sciences Forum, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, gathered 100 medical professionals from various sports bodies across Oman to enhance the technical medical skills vital for athlete care.

Muscat: Over the course of two engaging days, attendees explored critical topics aimed at refining the approach to sports medicine. Key discussions included the intricacies of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery, focusing on pre-operative rehabilitation programs, psychological factors influencing injury management, and the role of protein in recovery.

The forum also tackled post-surgery physical therapy and rehabilitation strategies, ensuring that medical staff are equipped to guide athletes effectively through their recovery journey. Lecturers shared insights on strength testing following ACL surgery and selecting the best surgical techniques for reconstruction, emphasizing a holistic approach to athlete health.

The closing ceremony, presided over by Basil bin Ahmed Al Rawas, Undersecretary of the Ministry, celebrated the contributions of both the expert speakers and the companies that supported the forum’s success.
