MUSCAT : The decision, based on the Commercial Law and a request from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aims to balance the interests of businesses and lenders while ensuring a regulated investment environment.

The decision allows for the possibility of exceeding the 6 percent return in exceptional circumstances, such as long-term loans or financing directed towards projects that significantly contribute to economic development or entail a high level of risk. However, this return does not apply to loans issued by banks, finance companies, and asset leasing firms licensed by the Central Bank of Oman.

Article 3 of the ministerial decision states that it will be published in the Official Gazette and will remain effective for one year from the date of publication.
