MUSCAT: There is a sense of excitement in the air for the Oman-based fans as the best emerging talents from Asian cricket powerhouses – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan – will be joined by stars from Hong Kong, China and UAE as they head to Oman for the Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 from October 18-27.
Hosts Oman will join the remaining seven teams, which include A teams from the five Test-playing nations of Asia, as the countdown for the coveted tournament began on Saturday.
Organized by Oman Cricket (OC) under the auspices of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), cricket fans in the Sultanate of Oman are eager to watch thrilling action from the teams with India A vs Pakistan A blockbuster evening match on October 19 already evoking massive interest. Oman Cricket on Saturday announced that match tickets have gone on sale with fans urged to buy it online to avoid any disappointment.
The price of each ticket for the much-awaited India-Pakistan match along with the semi-finals and the final will be OMR10 for one full day while for the remaining games, the ticket has been kept at OMR 5 each for a day. Each day, there are two matches scheduled with the eight teams divided into two groups. The stadium has a seating capacity of 4,500 in general stands.
OC confirmed that there will be only online sale of tickets and they will be available on platinumlist.net.
OC also said that a ticket counter will be set up at the venue for the last-minute purchase of tickets for fans on all matchdays.
Corporate hospitality boxes
OC announced that corporate hospitality boxes are also on sale and they have to be purchased from the OC office in Al Amerat. Each box comprising 20 seats have been priced at OMR4,000. Interested corporate houses can also contact for bookings on +969 99659680.
A senior OC official said: “We are thrilled to welcome teams in the Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup to Oman. This tournament not only highlights our commitment to developing cricket in the region but also offers a unique opportunity for our local talent to compete against some of the best emerging players from Asia. We invite cricket fans from all over to join us in celebrating this historic event.”
While the Test-playing nations – Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan – will field their A squads while UAE, Hong Kong, China, and the hosts playing with their main national teams.
Group A comprises Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A and Hong Kong while Group B includes India A, Pakistan A, UAE and Oman.
There will be daily double-headers with the first match beginning at 1.00pm while the second match will start at 5.30pm till the semi-final, which is scheduled on October 25. The final will be played on October 27.
Bangladesh A will meet Hong Kong in the opening match followed by Sri Lanka A against Afghanistan A in the second match on October 18.
Oman take on UAE in their opening match on October 19 followed by the much-awaited India A vs Pakistan A game in the evening session.
Oman take on Pakistan A on October 21 and conclude their group engagement against India A on October 23.
