Muscat: n Ananya Panday’s debut web series, fashion speaks louder than witty conversation and a basic plot, revealing more about the individuals through their looks than their emotions.

“Ananya Panday plays Ananya Panday in Call me Bae” portraying a wealthy girl with her heart in the right place again and again in Call Me Bae. Panday is as genuine as it gets with this kind of character representation since there is almost no distinction between who she is and who she must be.

It’s time for her to apply to roles that push her beyond her comfort zone and accept scripts and roles that demand more of her acting abilities.

Call me Bae is largely based on the same idea of Schitt’s Creek. That’s one of the main reasons why another television show will never take the place of Schitt’s Creek. One thing about that series was that the writer was grounded in reality and cognizant of the surrounding environment. The television series Call Me Bae is based on a character who loses everything and now has to hustle among commoners.

It is true when it is said that sometimes you must see the horrible to fully appreciate the wonderful. Despite the countless stories that have been told about the rags to riches cliché, reading about wealthy people turns into a guilty pleasure and a genre unto itself.

The issue with Call me Bae is that it doesn’t provide stability and honesty to the plot, which repeats the cliche bases. There are many episodes in which we see how ridiculous the series can get. It aims to be humorous by showcasing the extravagant lifestyles of the wealthy and well-known, but it also wants us to believe in the protagonist, who has poor acting skills.

The entire plot seems to be pulled out in a rush, and the characters merely have no time to complete the purpose of appearance, which makes scenes claustrophobic. It may seem like an unimaginative trick to retain the viewers, giving them hope to think about the show’s bright future or any surprising elements. One of the few positive aspects of the program is the chemistry between Panday and Gurfateh Pirzada, which is what occurs when you just let things and people be themselves.

A fantasy cartoon with human labour

The humour arises from how the privileged feel in their unfamiliar and natural surroundings when they encounter the ordinary, but It’s important to remember that the show has a hint of Karan Johar; one thing the Indian audience is aware of is that the Dharma Production umbrellas lavishness and unreal expectations.

If one is led to believe that a Raichand mansion of that magnitude in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham could exist just a short distance from Chandni Chowk, viewers can sit down and refrain from raising any questions about why Panday’s one-bedroom apartment and hostel make the hustle and bustle, for want of a better term, glamorous. Her pals from the middle class are more interested in her life and are constantly there for her than they are in taking care of themselves.

The second most evident question is: How true is this show? To the extent that we doubt the existence of the mentioned location? It is totally wrong to portray the society of wealthy South Delhi. This is what happens when people write about their experiences living in the city but are not locals.

Well, at least there is one good aspect of the series “An insider view and knowledge on bollywood fashion crash course” This show will educate viewers who are unfamiliar with fashion and luxury goods about the items that the wealthy and well-known carry in their closets.

You can see Louis Vuitton luggage, Dior scarves, Louboutin heels, Manish Malhotra ensembles, Birkin and Balenciaga bags, Fendi blues, etc., which will ultimately make you question your reality in comparison to watching a baseless script.
