MUSCAT : The Municipality has released a time-lapse video clip to showcase the progress made since the announcement of the project in April this year.

This towering structure, set to become the tallest flagpole in Oman at 126 meters, represents a significant milestone in the ongoing development of the square. It will stand as Oman’s tallest man-made structure, constructed from 135 tons of steel, boasting an outer diameter of 2,800mm at its base and 900mm at the top.

As the project moves towards completion, it promises to transform the area into a vibrant community space, with the official unveiling scheduled for Oman’s National Day in November.

The Al Khuwair Square project, developed as part of a community-focused initiative, includes the creation of expansive green spaces, walkways, and a dedicated bicycle path, transforming the 18,000-square-meter area into a dynamic community hub.

In addition to the towering flagpole, the square will feature a range of recreational and sports facilities designed to engage residents and visitors alike.

It may be recalled that Muscat Municipality had formally unveiled the project in April at a grand ceremony graced by dignitaries including H.E. Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, and Harssha Shetty, CEO of Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel, the project’s sponsor.
