Oman’s Minister of Social Development visits centres of care and empowerment in Qatar

To strengthen regional collaboration in social development, Oman's Minister of Social Development embarked on a tour of several key centres in the State of Qatar.

QATAR: Her Excellency Dr Laila bint Ahmed bin Awadh Al Najar, Oman’s Minister of Social Development’s visit encompassed a range of institutions offering specialized services. At the Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center, the minister engaged with programs designed to protect, rehabilitate, and reintegrate victims of violence and family disintegration. The centre also focuses on raising awareness around the protection and rehabilitation of women and children in Qatar.

At the Mada Center for Digital Access, Her Excellency explored efforts to empower persons with disabilities through improved access to information and communication technology (ICT). The centre strives to create an inclusive digital ecosystem that supports independent living for people with disabilities.

Another highlight of the visit was the Elderly Empowerment and Care Center “Ehsan.” This centre enhances the role of older people in social and economic development, offering programs that ensure older people receive the care and empowerment they need. Additionally, it raises awareness about the rights and needs of older people.

Her Excellency also toured the Wefaq Family Counseling Center, which provides family counselling and therapeutic services. The centre plays a pivotal role in community education, emphasizing the importance of the family unit and offering counselling to strengthen familial bonds.
