MUSCAT : Supported by the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund, the project’s first phase is now in full swing, with 30 farmers planting ginger on 3 acres of land.

These local farmers have been working since June 2024. The first harvest is projected to yield between 20 and 30 tons of ginger, ready by February 2025.

Eng. Radwan bin Abdullah Al Ibrahim, Director of the Agricultural Development Department and Project Manager, highlighted that this initiative began in mid-June and will run for 8 to 9 months. He emphasized the project’s comprehensive approach, including technical support for land preparation, modern irrigation installation, and detailed guidance from planting to harvesting.

Following the success of the turmeric cultivation project, which is now in its third year, this new ginger venture aims to boost local agriculture. The project helps farmers with subsidized ginger rhizomes and focuses on marketing the produce and fostering private-sector engagement.
