Muscat – As outlined in its latest report, the Ministry has successfully delivered 747 housing units across the Sultanate, surpassing 60 percent of its target for the 2022-2024 period. Currently, 478 units are under construction.
For the fiscal year 2024-2025, an allocation of RO 70 million has been set aside for the housing assistance program, which is projected to aid approximately 2,400 families. The report details several key initiatives in response to Royal directives for social housing projects, including:
- Construction of 20 units in Kumzar Village, Khasab, Musandam
- 45 units in Al Rahibat, North Sharqiyah
- 19 units in Wadi Bani Khalid, North Sharqiyah
- 10 units in the Manda area of Jebel Shams, Dakhliyah
- 15 units in Jalan Bani Bu Ali, South Sharqiyah
- 20 new units and maintenance of 32 existing units in Shalim and Hallaniyat Islands, Dhofar
Key highlights of the report:
• Compensation for 214 families in South Sharqiyah whose homes have been affected by climatic conditions.
• Ongoing work on national strategic plan to streamline housing assistance services and ensure equitable distribution.
• Addition of 6 new services on Amlak platform, making it more accessible and user-friendly.
• Revised assistance scheme to better accommodate the needs of different family sizes and housing requirements.
• Successful sale of 266 housing units across five integrated residential neighbourhoods.
• 1,012 investment opportunities on the Tatwir platform.
The revised assistance scheme will now offer up to RO25,000 for smaller families (minimum 140sqm) and up to RO30,000 for larger families (minimum 190sqm), ensuring support is appropriately tailored to varying housing needs.
