MUSCAT : The General Directorate of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources in Al Wusta has officially launched a comprehensive livestock vaccination project. The initiative kicked off with an awareness seminar aimed at underscoring the critical role of vaccinations in protecting livestock and preventing the spread of diseases.
Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Al-Alawi, Director General of the Directorate, emphasized that the project aligns with the One Health approach, which focuses on the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. He mentioned that the goal is to shield humans from zoonotic diseases, enhance the safety and nutritional quality of animal products, and bolster environmental protection.
By reducing the need for medical services and preventing epidemic outbreaks, the initiative aims to create a healthier and more attractive environment for investment.

Statistics from 2023 reveal significant progress, with over 105,000 doses administered, benefiting 1,115 individuals across 101 villages. The vaccination coverage rate reached 82.4%, with 66.1% for all animals. This year’s campaign targets an increase in coverage to 70%, further advancing the Ministry’s goals for 2024.
