Muscat – Running from September 1 to 3, 2024, this 48-hour event aims to generate sustainable and human-centric design solutions for key urban locations in the city.

With 33 participants, including students and professionals in Architecture and Urban Planning, the hackathon features 10 teams working intensively on revitalizing two designated sites: Qurum Park – City Amphitheatre and Al Manooma Market. Each site has been assigned five teams, all tasked with creating innovative concepts that enhance social interaction, economic sustainability, and overall vibrancy.
The hackathon focuses on human-centric urban planning, emphasizing designs that promote social interaction and economic sustainability. The winning design for each location will be considered for potential implementation by Muscat Municipality.

The event will culminate in the selection of one winning design for each site, with the potential for implementation in partnership with Muscat Municipality. The evaluation criteria will focus on originality, innovation, community feedback, economic feasibility, and the sustainability of materials.

The hackathon aims to align with Muscat Municipality’s vision of transforming urban spaces into vibrant, community-driven environments through innovative, sustainable solutions.
