MUSCAT : Brigadier Engineer Ali bin Salim Al Falahi, Director General of Traffic, said that the ROP has taken a series of preventive measures to ensure smooth flow of traffic and the safety of students.

These measures include heightened traffic awareness campaigns through various media and social platforms, as well as increased police presence on the roads and near schools. The aim is to manage traffic congestion, prevent bottlenecks, and provide support to road users.

“Adhering to traffic laws and speed limits is crucial, particularly in school zones,” Brigadier Al Falahi emphasized. He stressed the importance of maintaining a safe distance between vehicles, prioritizing pedestrians, and avoiding distractions such as mobile phone use while driving.

In terms of awareness initiatives, Brigadier Al Falahi noted that traffic safety institutes across various governorates play a key role in spreading traffic awareness. Last year, more than 20 specialised driving training programs were conducted for school bus drivers. Additionally, over 640 lectures and awareness events were held at public and private schools, and the Traffic School hosted 177 visits from students.

Brigadier Al Falahi also underscored the shared responsibility of traffic safety, calling for collective efforts to ensure the well-being of students. “The Royal Oman Police remains committed to working closely with relevant authorities to uphold student safety and continue our awareness efforts throughout the new academic year,” he said.
