Muscat: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) hosted an engaging dialogue with His Excellency Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Oman’s Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, along with a high-powered delegation in Mumbai. The discussions centred on bolstering India-Oman trade ties, particularly in emerging sectors like renewables, hydrogen, electric vehicles, defence, and private equity.
During the meeting, His Excellency Qais Mohammed Al Yousef emphasized the transformative potential of the upcoming India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), highlighting how it would reshape the trade landscape between the two nations once signed. FICCI members expressed keen interest in exploring investment opportunities in Oman, recognizing the Sultanate as a promising destination for business expansion.
He further invited Indian investors to seize the wealth of opportunities Oman offers, reinforcing the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.

His Excellency Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation, echoed the Minister’s sentiments, noting the historic relationship between India and Oman that spans over 5,000 years. He highlighted the significant trade between ancient Qalhat and Dwarka, with artefacts in the National Museum of Oman serving as a testament to these longstanding ties.
The meeting also reflected on the warm relations between the two countries, as Minister Al Yousef recalled His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s first non-Arab state visit to India after assuming power, marking India’s importance to Oman.
