MUSCAT: A deep depression that has intensified into tropical storm Asna is centered northeast of the Arabian Sea near the Indian-Pakistan coast and is moving west towards the Sea of Oman, according to
the National Centre for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards.
In a statement issued, the Oman Metrology department said the centre of the weather condition is approximately 900 km away from Ras Al Hadd in Wilayat of Sur.
“The paths of the case vary as it approaches the Sea of Oman, as the first possibility indicates that the tropical storm will move towards the areas located between the coasts of Muscat and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates,,” the statement said.

On Sunday and Monday, rain of “varying intensity” will fall on the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, Muscat, and parts of South Al Batinah and Al Dakhiliyah Governorates.
“The second possibility indicates that the storm will deviate to the south/southwest with gradual weakening and fading away from the coasts of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate (Arabian Sea) with chances of scattered rains in the South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta Governorates,” the statement added.
All developments and updates are being evaluated by the National Center for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards and alerts are being issued for this case
