MUSCAT : The latest data from the National Center for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards reveals a deep tropical depression located northwest of the Indian subcontinent at latitude 23.7°N and longitude 69.4°E, approximately 1,000 kilometers from Oman’s coast. The depression, with wind speeds around 28-30 knots, may intensify into a tropical storm within the next 48 hours as it heads westward toward the Sea of Oman.
Initial forecasts suggest a 60% likelihood that the tropical system will move toward Oman’s coastline in the coming days. The northern governorates may experience an influx of clouds and varying intensities of rain starting Sunday, September 1, 2024.
The Civil Aviation Authority advises residents to stay updated by following official bulletins and reports as the situation develops.
