MUSCAT : The forum kicked off with the Honorable Salem bin Muslim Qatan, Vice President of the State Council, gracing the opening ceremony.

Hatem bin Hamad Al-Taie, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Roeya newspaper and Secretary-General of the Forum emphasized the crucial role of AI in augmenting rather than replacing human journalists. He highlighted AI’s potential in data analysis, trend identification, and combating misinformation, stressing that it should be a tool for journalists rather than a substitute for their creative input.

Dr Aisha bint Hamad Al Darmaki, a member of the State Council Office, underscored the benefits of AI in transforming data into diverse media formats. She advocated for robust legal frameworks to ensure AI applications respect ethical standards and cultural values.

The forum featured three insightful papers: Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Mashikhi’s discussion on “New Media and Investment Opportunities,” Counselor Obaidli Al-Obaidli’s exploration of “Artificial Intelligence and Media,” and Dr. Mohammed bin Awad Al-Mishkhi’s analysis of “Omani Media and Artificial Intelligence Applications.”

In addition to these presentations, participants engaged in two training workshops on “Media Content in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” and “Electronic Forgery and Confrontation Mechanisms.”
