MUSCAT : The Khareef season, an extraordinary season in the Sultanate of Oman, has become a launchpad for innovative youth projects. Spearheaded by enterprising Omani youth, these initiatives are turning the seasonal influx of tourists into a catalyst for economic growth, with the backing of official bodies and private sector institutions.

One standout example is the “Osara” entertainment project, co-founded by Majid bin Ali Al-Masahli. Located on the Raysut beach in Salalah, “Osara” is a comprehensive tourist destination, offering a blend of cultural activities, entertainment, and relaxation spots tailored for all ages. Majid emphasizes that the project, which was established in 2022, is an eco-friendly endeavor, with 70% of its structures made from recycled wood. The site also features unique activities such as axe throwing and jet skiing, making it a must-visit during the Khareef Season 2024.
Another notable venture is the “Lamir Al Mughsail” site, founded by Nader bin Bakhit Fadel. Now in its third year, this site offers restaurants, cafes, children’s play areas, and pleasure boat services. It enhances the tourism experience in Al Mughsail by providing diverse entertainment options, creating job opportunities, and supporting local enterprises.

Similarly, Muslim bin Abdul Salam Al Rawas’s “Revel Park,” featuring 50 mobile sales outlets, is becoming a popular hub for both residents and tourists, offering a mix of local and international foods and entertainment.
These youth initiatives, supported by entities like Dhofar Municipality and the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, are not only enriching Dhofar’s tourism sector but are also vital contributors to the local economy, proving that with the right support, Oman’s youth can turn seasonal opportunities into lasting economic benefits.
