KERALA : The Malayalam film world was rocked by a series of high-profile resignations, all triggered by the Justice K Hema Committee’s shocking revelations of harassment and abuse towards women professionals. The allegations prompted a wave of resignations, including that of actor Mohanlal, who led AMMA through its highs and lows.
The dramatic shake-up didn’t stop there. Following Mohanlal’s resignation, the entire executive committee of AMMA submitted their joint resignation, marking a sweeping change in the organization. The Malayalam film industry faced mounting scrutiny as fresh allegations continued to surface, including a resurfaced claim against actor-politician Mukesh.
In response to the growing outrage, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan convened an urgent meeting with senior police officials. The government has pledged to tackle the issue head-on, establishing a seven-member special team to investigate the serious allegations against several figures in the industry.
