Oman announces national squad for World Cup qualifiers

Oman’s national football team coach Jaroslav Šilhavý has announced the squad that will represent the Sultanate in the upcoming matches against Iraq and South Korea in the third stage of the final Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

MUSCAT : The selected squad includes: Ibrahim Al Mukhaini, Faiz Al Rashidi and Ibrahim Al Rajhi as goalkeepers; Ahmed Al Khamisi, Mohammed Al Musalmi, Khalid Al Braiki, Ghanim Al Habashi, Ali Al Busaidi, Ahmed Al Kaabi, Abdulaziz Al Shamousi and Amjad Al Harthy as defenders; Arshad Al Alawi, Harb Al Saadi, Abdullah Fawaz, Salah Al Yahyaei, Zaher Al Aghbari, Jameel Al Yahmadi and Omar Al Maliki as midfielders; and Sultan Al Marzouq, Nasser Al Rawahi, Essam Al Subhi, Abdulrahman Al Mishfri, Mohsen Al Ghassani, Mohammed Mubarak Al Ghafri and Mohammed Hamid Al Ghafri as forwards.

Oman’s national team will face Iraq in their opening match in Group Two at Basra International Stadium on September 5, 2024. Their second fixture will be against South Korea, to be held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bousher, Muscat, on September 10, 2024.

Following these matches, Oman’s World Cup qualifying campaign will continue as per the below schedule:

• September 5th: Oman vs. Iraq (Basra International Stadium)
• September 10th: Oman vs. South Korea (Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Bausher)
• October 10th: Oman vs. Kuwait (Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Bousher)
• October 15th: Jordan vs. Oman (Amman)
• November 14th: Oman vs. Palestine (Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Bausher)
• November 19th: Oman vs. Iraq (Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Bausher)
• March 20, 2025: South Korea vs. Oman (Seoul)
• March 25, 2025: Kuwait vs. Oman (Kuwait)
• June 5, 2025: Oman vs. Jordan (Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Bausher)
• June 10, 2025: Oman vs. Palestine (Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Bausher)


The national team will begin their preparations on August 28th with an internal training camp before departing for Basra on September 3.
