Muscat Municipality warns against using unauthorised residential buildings for business

The Muscat Municipality has issued a reminder to warn public against the unauthorized use of residential buildings for commercial purposes.

MUSCAT : “The use of unlicensed residential buildings for commercial purposes results in violations with adverse social and economic consequences,” stated an announcement from the municipality.

Such activities are in violation of local regulations and can lead to fines and penalties.

The municipality emphasized that it is committed to moving commercial activities to appropriate areas, ensuring the protection of residents’ privacy and the preservation of the city’s public image.

As per the announcement, following are the permitted streets and activities:

Approved activities include kindergartens, centres for people with disabilities, private schools, women’s beauty salons, medical clinics, and retail of readymade clothing.

Commercial activities are allowed on designated streets in Seeb, Bausher, Quriyat, and Al Amarat.
